If you are an enthusiast of horseback riding, try experiencing it at Maui.

Maui has plenty of ranches which are fit for horseback riding. If you are looking for the ranches that are available for horseback riding, you can search at Kapalua that are located at the western and southern part of Maui.

Before trying out horseback riding, be sure you already undergone the basic training to avoid falling off the horse. You should know that horses are sometimes undergoing tantrums that seem to be hard to manage if you are just a newbie. To have a safer horseback riding, you may always seek for the help of the ranch operator to guide you all the way. Take note the horseback riding is quite expensive but the fun is worth the price.

While having a horseback riding at Maui, the horse owners may guide you to reach the tropical rain forests around the area. You can experience the breath taking views of naturally made cliffs located at the Pacific Ocean. The hums of the birds can generate a relaxing sensation on the part of the horseback rider. The guides can also take you to the great Haleakala Crater that is very similar to the actual appearance of our moon. You can also have the access to the highlands of Hana that is located near the ever beautiful Oheo Gulch. While having a ride there, the peace is so pleasing wherein you will not hear any noise of a vehicle. The population there is also minimal making it the best spot for relaxation. Continuing the ride, you can reach the solid green tropical forests of Maui. You will be able to take some photographs of the unique black sand beaches there. You will also access the valley roads which can lead you to the beach of Makena up to the Ullupalakua winery.

The tourists are requested to be very careful; when riding a horse. Though they are guided by the professionals, it is always essential to be very careful. Keep in mind that accidents are much unexpected. It is always better to be safe than sorry.

It is always rewarding to experience horseback riding at Maui. The ranchers there are so giving. They can provide you free meals to somehow refresh you body from a long journey. They are also allowing the tourists to bring cameras to take some photos as souvenirs. Because horseback riding is a tough task, the tourists are strictly required to change their casual clothes to the appropriate one. Horseback riding clothes can protect the rider in case an accident will happen. There is also a restriction regarding the weight of the rider. Approximately, the rider should weigh less than 300 lbs to ease the horse in traveling on trails.

If you will try to let the children ride the horse, that is a big no-no. People who are aged 18 and up are the ones who can only ride the horse.

The Hawaii’s second biggest island which is Maui is one of the bests when it comes to beaches and condominium locations. They have perfectly designed hotels, beach shores, bars, towns, and even the undeveloped areas. After having a relaxation on the beaches of Maui, you should also try visiting its towns.

Lahaina is one of the small towns of Maui. It is situated at the Highway 30 located at the western part of Maui. This small town was built in the early 19th century making it very historical. Way back in the beginning of the 19th century, Lahaina acted as the whaling port as well as a facility of R&R. Because of the unwanted behaviors of the sailors there that time, a conflict between the sailors and the missionaries began. The conflict worsened as the governor that time arrested a popular ship captain. The sailors started to fire cannon balls against the missionaries’ houses. As the remembrance for that conflict, the 60 foot high banyan tree stands by the Lahaina Port as an unending tribute to the heroism of the missionaries.

There are 20 other historical sites located at Lahaina such as the Missionary House of Reverend Baldwin, a prison house, the Carthaginian Floating Museum, and the old courthouse.

Every November, Lahaina is always expecting 20-30 thousand crowds to participate to their Halloween celebration. The tourists are often gathered at the main street wherein lots of shops as well as stalls are located. The only bad thing about Lahaina is its small space not fit for a parking space. Some local people there may charge you an amount to access the parking space.

Let us now go to the eastern part of Maui which is the Hana. Hana is indeed a quiet town which can generate relaxation among its tourists. You can easily forget the life at the city after arriving at the place because of its sanctuary-like location. Around the town are the tropical forests which can add up its relaxing views. Aside from the rainforests, there are also plenty of breath taking views available like the waterfalls, beaches, and infinity pools. While riding along the road of Hana, you will be able to see the 95 foot high Wailua Falls as well as the beaches of Oheo Gulch. The Hana’s very own Hamoa Beach was in the past considered by the great author James Michener as the “South Pacific’s Most Excellent Beach”.

The whole town of Hana will be viewed when you are on the top of the Fagan’s Memorial Cross. This 30-foot erected cross was built in memory of the great Paul Fagan who assisted Hana in surviving the downward sugar industry of the town in 1940′s.

Let us now proceed to the western part of Maui which is the Kapalua. This is the best town of Maui since it contains lots of beaches. Just like the other towns of Maui, it also embraces its history. The Honokahua Preservation Site locates 900 old aged burial sites which were dated around 610 – 1800. Kapalua has plenty of pineapple plantations making them the primary exporter of pineapple goods.

There can be no Maui vacation without the Maui beaches.

The above statement is not an exaggeration. The Maui beaches continue for well over 32 miles and have a combined coastline of more than a hundred and fifty miles! Your bottle of suntan lotion will be over way before you have explored the fascinating Maui beaches. They are the ideal spots for water babies who want to indulge in swimming, sunbathing, surfing, and other such water activities. After knowing all these, can you still think of a vacation in Maui without hitting the Maui beaches?

All the Maui beaches have crystal-blue pure water, tropical winds, and perfectly blue skies. Though most of the Maui beaches have white sand, there are also a couple of black and red sand Maui beaches to enthrall you. All the beaches are enticing surfing and windsurfing destinations. There are also water activities in which the entire family, including children, can participate. And if you are not so fond of water and water activities, you can always settle for a dip in the comfortable warm waters, or settle down in the beach for a tan.

Most of the beaches are located towards the west of Maui. There are 18 miles of beach between Kapalua to Olowalu. The best Maui beaches are in the resorts. However, if you are of the kind who wants to have a quiet and peaceful holiday, away from the hustle and bustle of other tourists, off beaten parts are also good choices, so that you can relax and enjoy yourselves.

Some of the better known Maui beaches are:
* Black Rock – Ka’anapali Beach (West Maui)
Irrespective of whether you are a beginner in swimming/snorkeling, or a professional, this beach is an interesting choice to make.

* D.T. Fleming Beach Park – Kapalua
It was chosen the “America’s Beach Beach” in 2006. It is a public park with picnic tables and life guards.

* Kama’ole Beach Parks I, II, and III – Kihei (South Maui)
This one is a favorite of the locals. It has plenteous place for parking, offers volleyball courts and lifeguards.

* Kihei Beach – Kihei (South Maui)
These constitute more than six miles of the Kihei coastline.

* Kanaha Beach Park – Kahului (Central Maui)
This Maui beach is famous all over the world for its excellent windsurfing conditions. It is also ideal for swimming, diving or playing volleyball. Its proximity to town makes it all the more convenient.

* Ho’okipa Beach Park – Pa’ia (East Maui)
It is a heaven for professionals due to the windsurfing and board surfing competitions conducted here.

Whatever be your interest or level of competence, you are sure to find one or the other beach in the enormous Maui beach coastline to suit you. Some sports activities are physically demanding, while others are purely recreational. All Maui beaches offer simple but enjoyable activities for children. The adults can also indulge themselves on the submarine tour, and have as much fun as the kids do. The 48 passenger submarine treats you to a live view of the Maui underwater.

Indeed, no holiday without a Maui beach holiday!

Maui, also known as the “Valley Isle” of Hawaii, is its second largest island with an area of about 729 square miles. The population of the island is around 117,644, most of which is comprised of Caucasians. Some other ethnic groups who are the residents of Maui are Japanese, Hawaiian, Chinese and Filipino. The three biggest towns of Maui Hawaii are Kahului, Wailuku, and Lahaina. The biggest airport of Hawaii is at Kahului. However a small one operates in Kapalua too, a town located towards the west of Maui.

Tourism is the biggest industry of Maui Hawaii. Around 2.2 million visitors come here every year. No wonder Maui Hawaii is known as “the best island in the world”. Apart from tourism, other major industries include crops like sugar and pineapple, cattle, and diversified agriculture.

Maui Hawaii has miles of swimmable coastline, which is the biggest in the entire Hawaii. Approximately 3000 whales migrate to these Hawaiian waters during the winter. In fact Maui Hawaii is considered to be the biggest breeding ground for humpback whales. Maui Hawaii caters to the large number of tourists which visit it every year by its ten parks, eighteen golf courses, sixteen hotels, one hundred three condominiums with 7343 units. The Haleakala National Park, Lahaina Town, Hana and the Maui Ocean Center are the major tourist draws.

Different areas of Maui Hawaii have different climates. The average temperature of the island is around 71 degrees in winter and 78 degrees in summer. Thus, the climate is tropical. However, as a means of relief from the high temperature, a constant breeze from northeast, traveling at around 5-15 miles an hour, blows here, which increases humidity and makes heat much tolerable by cooling the air.

It is interesting to explore the island on car, and drive around it. Mauka (towards the mountain) and Makai (toward the sea) are generally heard here instead of “north” and “south”. Honking is supposed to be a sign of an ill mannered person here, so almost no sound of honks is heard, even during traffic hours. However, care should be taken while driving near the island. Accidents have occurred when drivers suddenly pressed breaks on seeing even the tail of a whale, which is a very common sight.

Before visiting Maui, it is better if you take some care and chalk out the whole itinerary well ahead. Booking the rooms in the hotel of your choice is necessary to secure your stay in reputed hotels. Bring a map along with your video camera. And learn a little more of the native language, something more than a simple “aloha“.
